Logo of the hiking route "Bettelwald Weg"
The Bettelwald path is an approximately 6-kilometer-long, varied route in the Mandelbachtal. The many small bodies of water give the forest area a mysterious aura, featuring one of the few old forest stands in Bliesgau. There are numerous animal and plant species to admire here. The oak-hornbeam forest reveals special beauty in spring when many early bloomers cover the forest floor with their colorful floral carpet. According to legend, the Hunnic king Attila is said to be buried in this forest area.

Wegbeschreibung
The Bettelwald path starts at the hiking car park at Ommersheimer Weiher. The path leads steeply up the hill across the country road and then turns right at the edge of the forest. After a short stretch along the Allmendwald, a magnificent panoramic view opens up over the village and the typical orchard meadows of the Bliesgau. The hiking trail crosses the road and then follows Bettelwald until it finally turns left into the forest area. The wide gravel path leads along the Bettelwaldbach stream to the Ziegelhütte. At the road, turn right and follow it for a few meters until it goes left past the tennis court and into the Allmendwald. When you reach the forest edge, turn left and then right again down the hill back to the starting point.
