Hiking trail marking Bliessteig
The fifth stage from Kirkel to Schwarzenacker runs particularly idyllic and is rounded off at the end with a true panoramic view.
The 12 km long route leads through the Kirkeler Forest over enchanted paths past impressive rock formations. Along the way, there are repeated opportunities to take breaks and enjoy the magical and cozy atmosphere in the forest. The highlight is reached shortly before the destination: the monastery ruins in Wörschweiler. Cistercian monks (from 1131) once built the monastery on a hill above the Bliestal at 315 meters elevation.
The Bliessteig was awarded Germany’s most beautiful hiking trail in the multi-day route category by the renowned hiking magazine 2025.

Pack a packed lunch and take advantage of the rest areas along the rock path.
Wegbeschreibung
The fifth stage of the Bliessteig starts in Kirkel near the castle ruins. At the intersection of Burgstraße/Limbacher Weg, the path leads into the forest. It goes immediately to the right and always uphill parallel to the Kirkeler Tafeltour. Past the Hollerkanzel and the Hollerlöcher over the Kirkeler rock path to the Unglücksfelsen. It goes about 5 km straight through the forest. At a crossing, the Bliessteig turns left, then runs for about 500 m along the edge of the forest and finally turns right into the forest again. The paths wind through the forest at elevation until you reach a clearing to the monastery ruins in Wörschweiler. Here you have a magnificent panoramic view and the opportunity to take a break and enjoy the view.
