Covered rest area between Brenschelbach and Ormesviller
The covered rest area made from local wood invites hikers and cyclists to take a cosy break in any weather.
The "mini huts" made from local wood invite
forest visitors to linger and bring the forest habitat to life
– they are designed to actively encourage people to
discover and visit our forests.
The micro-cabane, or "mini huts" in English, are covered seating areas made from solid local wood – mostly Douglas fir. The wood comes from local forests in the region, including the UNESCO Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve, and is cut in a sawmill in the Bitscherland area near the border and assembled in a carpentry workshop.
Compared to conventional benches and seating areas, they can be used almost all year round and have a particularly long service life of several decades. The care and maintenance required is also correspondingly low.
Both the production of certified wood from sustainable forestry and the manufacture of these covered seating areas take place in close proximity to each other, in line with the principle of small cycles. This makes a direct contribution to both regional value creation and climate protection.
