Der Jägersburger is a circular hiking route leading over varied paths, through shady forest areas, and recurring open landscapes. The hallmark of this route are the two idyllic ponds – the Mühlwoog and the Brückweiher – and several wonderful viewpoints. The alternation between shady forest and natural, idyllic pond landscapes is always an experience. In spring, you can observe water crowfoot, sword lily, and water lilies, with grass and water frogs as well as numerous dragonflies hiding among their floating leaves! For those interested in cultural history, a detour to the nearby Gustavsburg at the Schlossweiher (castle pond) is recommended. For refreshments, the Blockhaus, which lies directly on the route, as well as the PETERS beer garden and the pizzeria Il Lago located in the immediate vicinity, offer great options. Beyond nature, the adventure stations at the edge of the hiking path are major highlights. The Fun Forest Adventure Park, pedal boat rentals, and the playground and picnic meadow at the Brückweiher invite visitors to linger longer.

A visit to the nearby Gustavsburg is worthwhile!
In 1590, Count Palatine Johann I had the medieval moated castle in the original Hattweiler, a Franconian settlement foundation from the 8th century, converted into a palace. The settlement and palace were renamed Hansweiler after him. In 1622, a tower was erected for better surveillance and defense. Instead of the castle burned down in the Thirty Years’ War, Duke Friedrich Ludwig built a residential building with a barn and stable in 1666. Duke Gustav Samuel Leopold of Zweibrücken had a chapel built in 1720 and the current residential building in 1721, naming the castle Gustavsburg. The ducal coat of arms is a reminder of this. After the French Revolution, forester Christian Lindemann from Neuheisel bought the castle at auction in 1803. Today Gustavsburg is owned by the city of Homburg. The main building houses the castle and palace museum on the history of Jägersburg. The outdoor area is accessible year-round. The rooms of Gustavsburg are opened for tours by prior arrangement.

The start of the forest- and water-rich quality route „Der Jägersburger“ is the parking lot opposite the Fun Forest Adventure Park at the Brückweiher in Homburg-Jägersburg. At the local recreation area „Jägersburger Weiher“, guests find pure relaxation and tranquility, a water playground, and many dining options. The Fun Forest Adventure Park climbing park is also located directly on the Brückweiher.
Along the shore of the Brückweiher, including path lighting in the evening, the route leads to the Mühlwoog pond. This pond is partly circled, with fishing piers inviting visitors to linger again and again. The hiking trail runs along the front edge of the pond, turning right towards Reiskircher Mühle, and continues for a long stretch through the Harraswald forest. Shortly afterward, the path crosses the B 423 and follows a beautiful route through the Kleinottweiler forest until it turns right again shortly thereafter. The route continues always above the Fellbach stream until it turns right at a T-junction. A consistently forested stretch leads back to the Brückweiher. Before reaching the Brückweiher, the hiking trail runs for a lovely stretch past the babbling Felsbach stream. Finally, the route goes past the picnic lawns and the Jägersburger Blockhaus until it ends at the Fun Forest Adventure Park.
By the way, in southwest Germany, a pond like this is called a Woog. That fits well: among the Jägersburger ponds, the Mühlwoog is responsible for the quieter tones.
