The Church of St. Mauritius in Erfweiler-Ehlingen is a defining feature of the village and is particularly striking due to its distinctive round tower, which probably dates back to the 12th century. Due to its construction with light slits and no original entrance, it is assumed that the tower once served as a defensive tower or part of a fortified complex.
The church itself is one of the oldest sacred buildings in the region. The choir room from the early church building has been preserved. Over the centuries, the church has been expanded and redesigned several times, so that today it harmoniously combines various architectural styles – from Romanesque origins to Baroque elements and a Neo-Gothic nave.
Inside the church, there are interesting details from different eras, including exposed historical altar components and a modern organ. Despite destruction during the Second World War, the church was carefully rebuilt and further developed.
