Flower garden Bexbach
A popular excursion destination for families that invites you to linger.
The flower garden is an important contemporary document from the period after the last world war, when Saarland was a semi-autonomous state under the French protectorate. The construction of model houses in 1949 was supplemented in 1951 around the "Museum and Observation Tower" by the exhibition "Garden and Flowers in Social Housing". Instead of allotment gardens, sand pits, fields and meadows, it presented ornamental gardens that were intended to beautify (new) homes. Various model gardens were laid out: "residential garden, small residential garden, garden by the pond, weekend garden, annual flower garden, perennial meadows, rose garden by the tower, heather garden, alpine garden (rock garden), Luxembourg garden". Everyone had access to the "Volksgarten". It was a popular destination for strolling and chatting. It served as a "source of joy and relaxation for the whole family". The Höhencafé in the tower and the garden restaurant with bowling alley were very popular. The water lily pond was renovated in 2018.
