With a height of 6.58 metres, it is one of the largest of its kind in Central Europe. The function of the monolith, which is made of non-local stone and is set one-seventh into the ground, remains unclear, but it may have been used for ritual purposes. In the post-medieval period, a niche was carved at a height of around 2 metres. A Christian image or figure may have been placed here.
