On the occasion of
German Unity Day in Saarbrücken, the Saarland Tourist Board
(TZS) and its tourism partners from the
districts invited visitors to immortalise themselves on two
sensory benches and get to know the excellent hiking opportunities in
Saarland. Using an engraving tool,
names could be written into the wood to document personal participation in the
festive day. The campaign ran over the three
days of the festival and was very well received. Around 400 people
immortalised themselves on the sensory benches.
Now,
as planned, the sensory benches are finding their place in nature. They are located
on the Bliessteig trail, which Wandermagazin magazine has named Germany's most beautiful
multi-day route for 2025. Saarpfalz-Touristik, which
designed and implemented the Bliessteig trail, has placed the benches in Homburg near
the orangery in the WaldPark Schloss Karlsberg forest park. The location
also serves as a meeting point for those seeking relaxation. The two benches now
invite visitors to take a seat in the beautiful natural surroundings and take a break .
During the official
inauguration, District Administrator Frank John thanked Birgit Grauvogel, Managing Director of the Saarland Tourist Board ,
for her support. He emphasised: "The two
sensory benches are the cornerstone for further measures to
enhance the hiking experience on the Bliessteig and in the Wanderbares
Deutschland quality region – to inspire locals and guests to go hiking in the
Saarland."
This
campaign highlights the value of the region's hiking opportunities and
creates a lasting memory of a special day in Saarland .

can individually experience and share the hiking opportunities and beauty of our region
."
