Wintringer Hof
The Wintringer Hof is a model farm for sustainable organic farming and inclusion.
The Wintringer Hof is a workshop for people with disabilities run by Lebenshilfe Obere Saar e. V. and has been a recognised Bioland farm since 1987 and is also a partner of the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve. A total of 130 employees work here in the areas of farming, fruit growing, vegetable growing, wine pressing, processing and marketing, as well as in gardening and landscaping.
A suckler herd of endangered Glan cattle lives on the farm, as do pigs, chickens and hens in the chicken mobile. Bread and fodder grain, potatoes and clover grass grow in the fields. Following an old tradition in the Bliesgau, fruit trees have now been planted again on about 10 ha. 14 different apple varieties grow here as dessert and cider fruit, as well as quinces, medlars and pears.
Vegetables ranging from broccoli to chard and onions are grown on about 2.5 ha of open land. Tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, aubergines and other sun-hungry fruits thrive on 3200 m² of protected cultivation under glass and foil.
All products from the Wintringer Hof and partner farms can be bought in the farm shop or tasted in the country inn!
