A mosaic of extensive orchard meadows, valuable beech forests, species-rich orchid meadows, and an impressive floodplain landscape crisscrossed by the river that gives the area its name—the Blies—characterizes the gently rolling landscape.The Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve not only preserves the region’s traditional cultural landscape and unique biodiversity, but is also strongly committed to climate protection and the establishment of regional value chains.  

Where is the Bliegau Biosphere Reserve located?

The Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve is located in the southeastern part of Saarland, on the border with France and Rhineland-Palatinate.
