All good things come in threes! On June 21, 2023, Federal Environment Minister Steffi Lemke and Norbert Kunz, Managing Director of the German Tourism Association, honored the Bliesgau Biosphere as Germany’s most sustainable tourism destination in Berlin. This marked the third time Saarpfalz-Touristik had participated in the national competition, and the organization has consistently improved its performance. In the inaugural year of 2012/2013, the Bliesgau Biosphere participated with the program “The Raft of Sustainability.” In the second competition in 2016/2017, it made it into the top 5 finalists with the program “WaldWerken.” This third competition was divided into “Starter” and “Advanced” categories for the first time. This time, the Bliesgau Biosphere applied as an “Advanced” entry, focusing on networking and sustainable mobility, with the “Biosphere Safaris” as its flagship offering. The victory demonstrates that the Bliesgau Biosphere now offers excellent sustainable programs that can hold their own even when compared nationwide. At the same time, it serves as an incentive for Saarpfalz-Touristik to further intensify its focus on sustainability.
