Hiking trail system
A hike in our “Wanderbares Deutschland” quality region includes a standardized signage system, so that everyone always knows where they are and how to find the right path, no matter where they are.The hiking trails in the Bliesgau region are mostly signposted consistently in both directions according to a standardized system.
Here you will find all the information about trail markings in the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve. This includes trail symbols, signposts, and intermediate signage, as well as connecting trails, portal signs, and the quality assurance of the hiking trails. The following explanation applies to all trails featuring the route logos as well as the Bliessteig long-distance hiking trail.

Each hiking trail has its own logo, which you can follow throughout the route. The white signs always display the trail’s name, sometimes abbreviated.
The tour title is white and is always displayed in a different color for each town and municipality
(Bexbach=blue, Blieskastel=teal, Gersheim=apple green, Homburg=dark green, Kirkel=brown, Mandelbachtal=orange, and St. Ingbert=red).

Main signposts are located at junctions where different trails meet and at prominent landmarks. The gray signs, shaped like an arrow with a blue tip, list destinations along with the distances to them. The route logos for the trails heading in the corresponding direction are also printed on the signs.

Intermediate signposts with route logos come in two types. Most intermediate signposts have an arrowhead that points you in the right direction. Square intermediate signposts without an arrowhead provide additional reassurance that you’re on the right track.

Connecting trails are marked with a red logo and link two hiking trails together, leading from a train station to a hiking trail. These connecting trails create a well-developed and clearly marked network of hiking trails throughout the biosphere, allowing every visitor to plan their own hikes using the trip planner.
