Baroque old town of Blieskastel
Located in the heart of the biosphere and with its baroque old town, Blieskastel is a small residential town with a lot of charm.
The listed historic town centre and its buildings form a unique baroque ensemble in the southwest. Blieskastel owes this to Counts Franz Carl and Marianne von der Leyen, who resided in the town from 1773 to 1793. In the picturesque old town, the Paradeplatz, the town hall, the Hercules Fountain, the Napoleon Fountain, the former court council houses, the orangery, the castle church and the pilgrimage monastery bring the Baroque era to life.
The history of the baroque town becomes particularly tangible on a listening tour.
As a former royal seat, Blieskastel is an important stop on the Saar-Palatinate Baroque Route(www.barockstrasse-saarpfalz.de)
