Bike route Gardens with History - 4 gardens in valleys and on hills
Mittel
Scenically outstanding, moderate circular route of about 60 km length and approximately 320 meters of elevation across the beautiful uplands and through the floodplain landscapes of the valleys in the Bliesgau biosphere. The passages on the heights offer fantastic views, even as far as the Vosges in clear weather. The Palatinate neighboring towns Zweibrücken and Hornbach enrich the "garden-rich" route with their charm.

Characteristic for this circular route are the four enchanted "gardens with history", which await discovery. The start is at the station in Blieskastel-Lautzkirchen on the "Adebar route" towards Homburg to the Palatinate neighboring town of Zweibrücken with its baroque ensemble in the town center on the Blies. The route continues to the idyllic town of Hornbach, where a break can be taken at the Hornbach monastery on nice weather days. In the shady beer garden of the hotel restaurant, you can recharge well. Further into the biosphere, the "European mill wheel route" leads to the village of Blieskastel-Altheim, where the Pirminius garden at the church can be found. Through the beautiful Bliesgau landscape dotted with orchards, the route continues with a steep climb to Gersheim-Medelsheim and Gersheim. A detour to Gersheim-Reinheim to the European cultural park Bliesbruck-Reinheim is a must. This "garden with history" on the French border is one of the largest and best developed in the Bliesgau biosphere. The return route runs via Gersheim without significant climbs on the Glan-Blies cycle path back to the Blieskastel station. In Blieskastel, a last stop is recommended, because two more gardens are waiting there. On the one hand the Orangery with the baroque garden on the castle hill and on the other hand the monastery park at the pilgrimage monastery Blieskastel on the monastery hill. Cyclists without e-bikes should best leave their bike in the town center and walk the steep climb back to the gardens.
