Bliestal recreational path

Characteristic of this route is the flat route guidance, as the cycle path was still an old railway track leading into the Bliesgau until 1991. In 2000, it was converted into a cycling and hiking path and opened on May 1st. Since then, cyclists can comfortably and leisurely cycle from the Blieskastel-Lautzkirchen station to Gersheim-Reinheim in the European Cultural Park. More ambitious cyclists can continue south to Sarreguemines or north to Homburg and Rhineland-Palatinate. Right at the beginning of the route, the baroque town of Blieskastel invites you to linger. Several cafés, ice cream cafés, and catering establishments with hot meals invite you to rest. Culturally, there is something for everyone here: a baroque old town, the orangery on the castle hill, the monastery with monastery garden, an audio tour as well as delicacies from the “Edible Town”. Further along the cycle path, there are numerous rest areas along the Blies. Access routes to the picturesque village of Wolfersheim, the Kirchheimer Hof, or Herbitzheim for resting can also be found on the route. At the end of the tour, the European Cultural Park Bliesbruck-Reinheim awaits culture and nature enthusiasts. The archaeological park is located directly on the French border and proudly fills the biosphere with its Gallo-Roman excavations.
