Eden Cinema
The Eden Cinehouse is a family-run cinema with four screens in the heart of Homburg. The programme ranges from mainstream films to arthouse cinema and operas/ballets.
The Eden Cinehouse in Homburg was built in 1952.
As was customary at the time, the cinema had only one large auditorium with an impressive balcony box.
In 1981, the auditorium was divided to create three cinemas. The 'lower' part of the auditorium was converted into two cinemas, while the balcony box was converted into the largest of the three auditoriums, Cinema 3. Even back then, a fourth auditorium was built behind the screen of Cinema 3, but it was not used for a long time.
On 17 December 1992, the Ronald Ohl cinema company took over the Eden in Homburg. At that time, the existing three auditoriums were renovated and the fourth auditorium was opened. All auditoriums were equipped with the latest image and sound technology .
In 1997, the foyer was renovated and enlarged towards the street. The large bar offers a wide selection of snacks and drinks.
Another renovation followed in 2005: theatres 1 + 2 in the lower area were enlarged by 'lowering' them
by 160
cm. This allowed the screens to be enlarged and
created a modern, amphitheatre-like ramp.
Over the years, there has been repeated investment in the latest sound and image technology , so that today in Homburg you will find four modern auditoriums with large screens, state-of-the-art 7.1 Dolby Digital sound technology and comfortable seats that are second to none.
In 2009/2010, all auditoriums were converted to digital projection. In cinemas 3 + 4, 3D films can also be shown.
At the end of May 2014, the Ohl family retired and Andreas Simon took over the Homburg Eden Cinehouse with the CinemAS Group from Neunkirchen .
In January 2015, Cinema 1 was refitted with new seating and various renovation measures were carried out in the foyer and stairwells.
From the end of April to the beginning of May 2016, in a construction phase lasting just under two weeks, theatre 3 was completely gutted and renovated. In order to create more comfortable row spacing, the number of seats was reduced by just under 20 . For the first time in Homburg, there is a box with comfortable loveseats.
