The Eichertsfelsen in St. Ingbert-Oberwürzbach is a fascinating natural monument and a real adventure destination - especially for families with children. The striking red sandstone formation with its small, cave-like outcrops is idyllically situated on the edge of the Laichweiher Valley, around one kilometre north of Oberwürzbach, nestled in a varied forest landscape.
Young and old explorers alike can go in search of clues here: Finds such as a grinding stone made of basalt lava and flint flakes prove that the caves were once used as a refuge or winter quarters - perhaps even by our early ancestors. The caves are easily accessible and stimulate the imagination: Who might have sought shelter here in the past?
From the rock, there is a wonderful view of the valley below with its ponds - an ideal resting place for hikers on the hut hiking trail or for short picnic breaks in the middle of nature.
