Kleinblittersdorf
Municipality between the Blies and Saar rivers with high recreational value.
Kleinblittersdorf and its districts have a chequered history. Over the course of time, it has sometimes been French, sometimes German. The municipality's latest tourist attraction is the Saarland thermal spa in Rilchingen-Hanweiler, whose Moorish-Andalusian-inspired architectural style provides a counterpoint to the orchards, beech forests and floodplain landscapes of the Bliesgau biosphere reserve. The thermal spa and sauna paradise is very popular thanks to its attractive offerings.
Almost all parts of Kleinblittersdorf can be easily reached via the Way of St James, which leads from Speyer to Metz. Stops along the way include the Hartungshof farm above Bliesransbach with its small manufactories offering products from the region. The next stop is the Wintringer Hof with the chapel of the same name. The farm with its beautiful farm shop is a recognised organic farm and the chapel is an important cultural venue.
The village of Auersmacher with its parish church has a beautiful village centre with a bakery, which is still used for baking today. One of the historic farmhouses, the old farmhouse, houses a local history museum and pilgrims' hostel.
In Rilchingen-Hanweiler, another stop on the pilgrimage route, a beautiful park directly on the Saar with old trees and two historic spring towers from the Baroque period invites you to linger. From here, you can quickly reach the Saar and enjoy views of the French neighbours.
