Wegmarkierung
The hike starts at the Pirminiushalle. Past the sports field to the Gimpelwald. After a short, steep ascent, the Gimpelwald hut is reached. After crossing the forest, the path leads to the height with the Quetschenallee. Here there is a very beautiful view into neighboring France and Saarland. The path runs through a beautiful mixed forest into the magnificent Becherbach valley. From the resting place at the edge of the valley, the mountain ranges of the Palatinate Forest can be seen in the distance. Alternating between forest and meadows, the path reaches the idyllic Becherbach pond located in the middle of the forest. From here, the path continues along the forest edge. At the end of this section, the path changes into the Schwalbaue nature reserve. A narrow path runs to the Spitzbuben bridge over the Schwalb to the other side of the valley. On the ascending path along the Teufelsschlucht, the path leads to the height in French territory. From here, the path leads back to the starting point.

Wegbeschreibung
The approximately 11.4 km long Paradiesgartenweg runs through the varied landscape around the old monastery town of Hornbach, framed by the biospheres Palatinate Forest, Bliesgau, and Northern Vosges.
The start is at the Pirminiushalle of the monastery town of Hornbach. From the parking lot, the path runs behind the Pirminiushalle along the former gardens, past the motorhome parking area and sports field through a small linden-lined alley to the Gimpelwald. At the end of the alley, the path branches left to the steeply ascending trail up to the Gimpelwald hut. After crossing the forest section, the path turns right behind the end of the forest. Passing blooming meadows and fertile fields, the route reaches the Quetschenallee on the height. Here there is a beautiful view of the neighboring France and Saarland. At the end of the Quetschenallee, the path branches slightly left and then immediately right, across a meadow to a magnificent mixed forest. This is crossed until at the end of the forest path the cut into the lovely Becherbach valley is reached. From here, the foothills of the Palatinate Forest can be seen on the horizon. Along the path branching left into the forest, past meadows and woods, the hiking route leads to the idyllic Becherbach pond located in the forest. The route runs all around the pond. At the junction above the pond, the hiking route continues straight ahead along the forest edge through the charming valley of the small Becherbach. Alternating past meadows and fields, after a short descent through a small forest section and crossing the L 468, the Schwalbaue nature reserve in the valley is reached. On a narrow path through the reed belt, across the Spitzbuben bridge, which crosses the Schwalb, the other side of the valley is reached. A narrow, steeply ascending path along the Teufelsschlucht leads to a field path on the height. From here, there is a view over the gentle rolling hills of the Pirminiusland. At the end of the field path, the route branches left at the height of the Wasserhäuschen and after a few meters again to the right. Here, the lightly traveled B 424 must be crossed to enter the field path which, past pastures, fields, and meadows, leads back to the monastery town of Hornbach and the starting point at the Pirminiushalle.
Ausrüstung
Sturdy footwear, weather-appropriate clothing. Sun and rain protection. Sufficient supply of food and drinks, in case no dining or shopping options are available or open. The path is consistently very well marked. For safety reasons, a suitable hiking map should always be carried.
The hiking trail partly runs through French territory. Please carry your ID.
Sicherheitshinweise
The path leads through the magnificent landscape in the border triangle of Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and France. An ID should be carried.
For safety reasons, we recommend always having a suitable hiking map with you. In adverse weather conditions, muddy and slippery sections can occur on natural paths. In autumn, particular attention should be paid to fallen leaves on the ground which can conceal unevenness, roots, stones or holes in the path. After storms, trees can still fall or branches break off afterwards.
Due to forestry work, the Paradiesgartenweg and Spitzbuben hiking trail are partly closed.
Short closures can also occur on the signposted detours.
