Even though there have been no garden archaeological findings in the archaeological park to date, the ancient Reinheim villa certainly also had ornamental and kitchen gardens - just like Italian country houses. In 2003, it was therefore decided to create a "Roman garden" in two peristyle courtyards of the villa, also with a view to increasing its appeal to tourists. Orientation for the planning was provided by Roman gardens discovered elsewhere, for example in Pompeii, as well as ancient texts. An ornamental garden with strictly geometric paths and flowerbeds consisting of semicircles and rectangular cores was created directly next to the main building of the villa. The paths are made of limestone chippings, which, although not archaeologically documented, are typical of the shell limestone region of the Bliesgau. Laurel cherry, soft and prickly acanthus, lavender, vinegar rose, Laurustinus snowball, catmint, mountain rue, Madonna lily and house vine were selected for planting. The garden is not just for show, but is also used interactively at various events (planting, care, harvesting). The garden allows visitors to gain a clearer picture of the ancient world that once surrounded the villa.
