The "mini-cabins", crafted from local timber, invite
forest visitors to linger and bring the forest habitat
to life – they are designed to actively encourage people to
discover and visit our forests.
The Micro-Cabane, or "mini-huts", are covered seating areas made from solid local timber – mostly Douglas fir. The timber comes from local forests in the region, including the Bliesgau UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and is cut at a sawmill in the neighbouring Bitscherland area and assembled by a carpentry firm.
Compared to conventional benches and seating areas, they are characterised by the fact that they can be used almost all year round and have a particularly long lifespan of several decades. The cost of care and maintenance is also correspondingly low.
Both the production of the certified timber from sustainable forestry and the manufacture of these covered seating areas take place in close proximity, in line with the principles of short supply chains. This makes a direct and effective contribution to both regional economic growth and climate protection.
