Wintringer Chapel
The Wintringer Chapel, the remains of a medieval sacred building, is located in the centre of the "Wintringer Hof" farmstead.
On Kappelberg hill between Kleinblittersdorf and Bliesransbach on the L254, the Wintringer Hof farm, run as an organic farm by Lebenshilfe Obere Saar e.V., lies in the middle of the Way of St. James.
At the heart of the farmstead are the remains of a medieval church that was once much larger and more important, dedicated to St. Wolfgang: the Wintringer Chapel. The chapel, a fine piece of architecture from the second half of the 15th century, is one of the few remaining examples of late medieval architecture in the Saarland. Traces of this period can be seen in the unique cycle of eight late Gothic water spouts on the buttresses.
